Indignant Greece
I’m a working mother of two with a less than working knowledge of world economies and financial dealings but the situation in Greece, as I understand it, is this:
Fat cat politicians + Government mismanagement + Vast sums of money = A happy few with bloated bank accounts (the rest of us were never figured into any part of the equation).
Now the general public are being forced to dig deep to repay loans that we did not want, did not ask for and did not benefit from. The schools, hospitals and other public services (and many of the public servants) are more than somewhat lacking – allocated funding was siphoned off practically at source. Most people I know are small business owners, working long hours to make an honest euro, proud of their achievement and hoping their kids will eventually take over. Well, that one sure got blown out of the water.
Why is there no inquiry into the misappropriation of funds? Why are questions about mismanagement not being asked? Why are we not hunting down the thieves who stole the money in the first place? Why are the people being forced to repay what the politicians have stolen? What am I to teach my kids then, that if you can just steal what you want and make others pay? Are public servants not accountable?
Am I an ‘Indignant’ Greek? Hell, yes!
